Data Notes
We have developed this data visualization to shows which counties in the US have the most households without access to a vehicle. It apprears based on the counties, there are reasons this counties are high on the list. Some of these include as urbanicity and poverty, but there may be other reasons as well. Our hope is this tool will be a valuable resource for citizens to understand and also spur discussion about local reasons for these trends.
To gather this data, I used a python script to access the Census Bureau’s API. Specifically, the 2022 American Community Survey 5-year estimates. I then visualized the data using Tableau.
