Data Notes
We have developed a comprehensive data visualization that shows with counties in the US have the longes commutes. There are mutliple things related to commute time such as urbanicity and employment, but there are many of regional differences. Our hope is this tool will be a valuable resource for decision-makers and also spur discussion about local commuting conditions.
To gather this data, I used a python script to access the Census Bureau’s API. Specifically, the 2022 American Community Survey 5-year estimates. I then visualized the data using Tableau.
