Data Notes

On January 8, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson declared a “War on Poverty” in his State of the Union address. While progress has been made, pockets of poverty persist in the United States. To mark this occasion, I utilized a Python script to extract data from the Census Bureau’s API, specifically the 2022 Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates.

The script allowed me to gather relevant data, which was then visualized using Tableau. The resulting visualization provides insights into areas where poverty continues to impact communities across the nation.
