Data Notes
Poverty is not evenly distributed across the United States. This map displays county-level poverty rates, revealing geographic concentrations of economic hardship. Identifying where poverty persists can help policymakers better allocate resources and design strategies that strengthen long-term economic well-being. The data was gathered from the U.S. Census Bureau’s API for the 2024 American Community Survey 5-year estimates. The data was then visualized in Tableau. Data is also available for more topics in our County Data Explorer.
